Child Welfare Training Academy in Washington, D.C.

Be Strong Families began collaborating with Washington, D.C. Child and Family Services (CFS) in 2015, organizing a Child Welfare Practice Innovation Conference. Workshops included: Engaging Birth Parents with Dynamic Coaching Skills; Having Each Others' Backs: Strategic Planning Session focused on Parallel Process; Birth Parent Mentor and Resource Parent Peer Exchange, Trauma Stewardship and the Importance of Self Care for Birth Parents and Resource Parents, Get on the Fast Track to Getting Your Kids Back Training of Trainers.  Beginning in 2017, as part of its effort to better serve kinship families, Be Strong Families trained the Child Welfare Training Academy (division of the Washington, D.C. Child and Family Services) to deliver multiple Be Strong Families' curricula including: Communicating with Kinship Families, Art of Parent Engagement with Kinship Families, Shared Parenting Series: Foundations of Shared Parenting in Relationship-Based Practice, Being an Agent of Positive Change, and Shared Parenting: Assisting Parents with Child Welfare Involvement and Caregivers with Building Collaborative Relationships.
