Tania Hernandez Chavelas was born in Mexico and came to the United States at the age of five. Entering the child welfare system at thirteen and aging out at adulthood, Tania’s personal experiences have fueled her passion for advocacy on behalf of youth in care. She first connected with Be Strong Families through her commitment to empowering others, serving as a Cook Ambassador for the BIPOC group within the Youth Advisory Board.

Today, Tania is a proud mother to a beautiful three-year-old daughter, Esperanza, and a dedicated scholar currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree. Bilingual in Spanish and English, she aspires to become a pilot, embodying her belief that no dream is too big to achieve.

As a Special Projects Intern at Be Strong Families, Tania brings fresh perspectives, creative energy, and a deep passion for social impact and community engagement. She supports the development and execution of initiatives aimed at strengthening families, promoting resilience, and advancing positive change. Tania is driven by the belief that strong families are the foundation of a thriving society, and she is committed to making a meaningful difference through her work.
