Emily have been working for the Chicago Police Department for 26 years and Detective with Special Investigations for 21 years.
She specializes in Spanish speaking cases that involve sex crimes against children and Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). She is an instructor for all new Detectives for the city of Chicago, in that she explains what her Specialized Unit involves and how to best handle these crimes, including interviewing techniques.
Detective Merida is one of several detectives with children or family with special needs, which motivated their unit to advocate for these children and adults whose voices may possibly heard through specialized interviews.
Emily always looks forward to helping the families she works with.
