We often work in partnership with systems, service providers, and parents. We have deep experience and specific expertise fostering the leadership of:

  • Child Welfare administrators and front-line staff and child-welfare-involved parents (birth, foster, and adoptive) and youth in residential and foster care and alumni

  • Community violence prevention staff and parents in high-need, urban communities

  • Early childhood program staff – both center- and home-based providers – and parents, including Head Start parents – in both urban and rural settings

Regional Parent Engagement Advisory Groups

Be Strong Families Regional Parent Engagement Advisory Groups (RPEAs) are groups of parents who have come together through shared enthusiasm for improving their own lives, the lives of their children, and the strength of their families and communities. They embrace the Strengthening Families Protective Factors, are part of Be Strong Families’ Cafe Community of Practice, and use Parent Cafés as one of the ways they strengthen families and communities. The Regional Parent Advisory Groups are enthusiastic about advising Be Strong Families to better meet the local needs of parents in their area. They weigh in on Be Strong Families’ national agenda, bringing parent issues and concerns to the table, and partner with Be Strong Families to co-create new trainings and Cafés. Each RPEA is represented by a seat on the Be Strong Families board of directors. RPEA members are engaged by Be Strong Families as part-time consultants to support ongoing Cafés and to share Cafés in communities throughout their regions.

Café Community of Practice

The BSF Café Community of Practice is a national network of Café Hosts who have been trained by Be Strong Families and are committed to continuous learning, sustaining, improving, and expanding their Café efforts, maintaining best practices and fidelity to the model, and sharing lessons learned. As part of the Café Community of Practice, members can expect to participate in our national Parent Café evaluation effort, access to new Café tools and national Parent Café data, a supportive and dynamic social media community, networking and relationship-building, invitation to monthly webinars and other in- person convenings, invitation to regional Confabs to learn and share with each other how to make great Cafés, and an opportunity to weigh in on a national agenda and local work. If you have been trained by BSF to host Cafés in your community, join our closed Café Community of Practice Facebook Group.
