"Through the Protective Factors, I have grown up as a parent. I can admit I do not know everything and reach out to other parents to share their experiences. Raising 7 boys to reach their full potential takes a community -  through my time sharing the Protective Factors with others, I have built a parenting team that has gotten me through the beginning stages of parenting.  Now, raising all young adults, the Protective Factors continue to guide me, and my team -  a life raft in new waters."

Robyn Harvey has been organizing and supporting foster and adoptive parents for the last decade. Assisting parents and youth in living the protective factors by hosting real conversations with those journeying through child welfare energizes her days.

Robyn lives in Northern Illinois with her husband, Rob and 7 sons. In their 19 years of fostering, their house has been home to numerous children. Some have returned home to their parents, some have moved on to adulthood, and four of them found their forever family with the Harveys. Working together with the children’s families is a challenging but rewarding journey.

Robyn has been very active in the fostering community in Illinois. She supported other foster parents as a DCFS Foster Parent Support Specialist, served as the Northern Region Foster Parent Advisory Council Chair, and was appointed to the Statewide Foster Care Advisory Council where she led the council as chair for 2 years. Robyn is a certified Master Trainer for the PRIDE program and sitting on a panel for new CASA advocates. In 2016, Robyn was chosen as one of fifty super advocates to represent caregivers across the nation on Capitol Hill through Family First Program. Robyn and her husband were honored to be named Illinois Foster Parents of the Year in 2004.

Robyn Harvey joined the Be Strong Families Team in 2011 and has served as Foster Parent Consultant, Foster Parent Statewide Coordinator, Statewide Manager of the Youth Advisory Board, and Child Welfare Services Manager. She currently is a Senior Trainer and Midwest Team Lead.
